Who we are
Two inspectors covering the Western Cape — a grandfather and a grandson. No call centre, no sales team. The person who inspects your property is the person who writes the report and the person who answers the phone when you ring about it.
Eben Roux
Certified Professional Inspector (CPI) NACHI 2006291940 years in construction before he ever picked up an inspection clipboard.
Eben was born and raised in the Western Cape. His father was a building contractor, and after matric he spent four years in the Fire Brigade — three as a fireman and one as an officer — before joining his father in the construction business.
He worked for Murray & Roberts, LTA and Concor, qualified in building management and site management, and served as a quality controller across a range of building sites. He then started his own construction company and was an active member of the Master Builders Association for twenty years.
He is a Certified Professional Inspector (CPI) through InterNACHI, the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors.
What that adds up to on site: he has built the things he is inspecting. He knows how a wall is supposed to go up, so he can see when it did not.

Sebastian is Eben’s grandson. He inspects across the Western Cape alongside him, and he is being brought up through the business to take it over.
He holds the same InterNACHI certification as Eben — Certified Professional Inspector. The one difference between them is Eben’s forty years of building sites, and that is a gap being closed the only way it can be: by doing the inspections, alongside him.
He approaches it as a businessman first, and he is thorough to the point of stubbornness — the same trait that made his grandfather’s reports what they are. He would rather spend another hour in the roof space than sign off a report he is not certain of.
Away from work he is a keen spear fisherman.
How we work
We inspect, we photograph, we write it down, and we tell you what we could not see. We do not take a commission from contractors, we do not sell repairs, and we have no interest in whether your deal goes through.
That independence is the whole value of the exercise. An inspector with a stake in the outcome is not an inspector.
Reputation
We have never advertised much. The work comes from estate agents who have read our reports, from neighbourhood WhatsApp groups and property forums, from doctors who suspect a patient’s home is the cause of their symptoms, and from people we inspected for years ago who kept the number.
That is a slow way to build a business and a hard one to fake, which is the point.
A family business, deliberately
Sebastian is Eben’s grandson, and he is being brought up through the business to take it over. That matters more than it sounds. A report is only worth something if the person who wrote it is still around to stand behind it, and if you can phone about a finding two years later and reach someone who remembers the house.
Standards
Inspections follow the InterNACHI Standards of Practice. Mould sampling follows IAC2 procedures, and every sample goes to an independent national laboratory whose quality control conforms to SANS 5763 and ISO 7954. Our Standards of Practice are available on request — ask and we will send them.
